!!!Duplicate Meal Detection

How the app prevents repetitive meals.

Duplicate Meal Detection

Nobody wants to eat the same thing every week. Our duplicate detection helps maintain variety.

How It Works

The app tracks what you've planned and cooked to prevent repetition:

  • Same week: Warns if you add the same recipe twice in one week
  • Recent weeks: AI suggestions avoid recipes from the past 2-4 weeks
  • Cooking history: Considers what you've actually cooked, not just planned

Visual Indicators

When you add a duplicate:

  • A small warning badge appears on the meal card
  • The recipe shows "Planned X days ago" in the picker

Override Warnings

Sometimes you want to repeat a recipe! You can:

  • Ignore the warning and add anyway
  • Turn off duplicate warnings in Settings

AI Suggestion Behavior

The AI meal suggester:

  • Excludes recipes cooked in the last 2 weeks
  • Excludes recipes planned for the current week
  • Prioritizes recipes you haven't made in a while
ℹ️

Highly-rated favorites may still appear in suggestions more frequently, even if recently cooked.

Customize Detection

In SettingsMeal Planning:

  • Adjust the "avoid repeats" window (1-4 weeks)
  • Turn duplicate warnings on/off
  • Set exceptions for staple meals
