How the Weekly Planner Works

The weekly planner is the heart of What's for Dinner? Here's everything you need to know.

The Layout

The planner shows a week at a glance:

  • Columns: Each day of the week (Mon-Sun)
  • Rows: Meal types (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks)
  • Cards: Your planned recipes

  • Arrows: Use left/right arrows to move between weeks
  • Calendar: Click the date to open a calendar picker

Free users: Can only view and edit the current week. Pro/Premium: Can plan multiple weeks ahead.

Meal Slots

Each day has default slots:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner
  • Snacks (optional)

You can customize meal types in Settings > Meal Planning.

Tips for Success

  • Start with dinners: Most people find it easiest to plan dinners first
  • Use leftovers: Plan larger meals early in the week, use leftovers later
  • Theme nights: Try "Taco Tuesday" or "Stir-Fry Friday" for easy planning
  • Leave flexibility: You don't need to fill every slot
