Import a Recipe from URL

The fastest way to build your recipe collection is importing from websites. Our AI extracts all the details automatically.

How to Import

Copy the recipe URL

Find a recipe on any cooking website and copy the full URL from your browser's address bar.

Open the import dialog

In What's for Dinner?, click + Add Recipe in the top right corner, then select Import from URL.

Paste and import

Paste the URL into the field and click Import Recipe. Wait a few seconds while our AI processes the page.

Review the results

Check that the title, ingredients, and instructions look correct. Make any needed edits.

Save

Click Save Recipe to add it to your collection.

What Gets Imported?

Our AI extracts:

Rate Limit: You can import up to 20 recipes per hour. This prevents abuse and keeps the service running smoothly.

Troubleshooting

Recipe won't import?

  • Make sure the URL is complete (starts with https://)
  • Some sites block automated access—try a different source
  • Very old or poorly formatted recipes may not parse correctly

Missing information?

You can always edit the recipe after import to add missing details or correct errors.
