!!!AI Recipe Import Limitations

Understanding what AI recipe import can and can't do.

AI Recipe Import Limitations

Our AI-powered recipe import works great most of the time, but there are some limitations to be aware of.

Rate Limits

To ensure fair usage and system stability:

| Limit | Amount | |-------|--------| | Recipes per hour | 20 | | Concurrent imports | 1 |

If you hit the limit, wait a few minutes before trying again.

Sites That May Not Work

Some websites are harder to import from:

Blocked Sites

  • Sites that require login to view recipes
  • Sites with aggressive bot protection
  • PDF recipe files
  • Social media posts (Instagram, TikTok)

Partial Extraction

  • Very old websites with outdated HTML
  • Recipes in image-only format
  • Non-English recipes (may have translation issues)

What Might Be Missing

The AI does its best, but sometimes misses:

  • Nutrition data: Not all sites provide this
  • Exact cooking temperatures: May need manual verification
  • Specific brand ingredients: Generic substitutes may be used
  • Recipe photos: We don't import images from other sites

When Import Fails

1

Check the URL

Make sure the URL is complete and accessible. Try opening it in an incognito window.

2

Try a different source

The same recipe might be on multiple sites. Try AllRecipes or Food Network versions.

3

Create manually

If all else fails, use Create Manually and type the recipe yourself.

⚠️

Never import recipes you don't have permission to use commercially. Personal use is fine!

Improving Results

  • Use major recipe sites (AllRecipes, Food Network, Serious Eats)
  • Make sure the page is a single recipe, not a roundup
  • Check that the URL leads directly to the recipe page
